WMI FAQ

What is WMI?

WMI stands for Waukee Marching Invitational. This is a marching band contest hosted by Waukee Schools. It allows 18 marching bands to march and compete in our district facilities in Mid-October. This event is our band programs largest fundraising event of the year. It takes a tremendous amount of time and energy so we NEED LOADS OF VOLUNTEERS to make it the huge success it’s always been.

In the past the State Marching Band competition has taken place on the same day in the same stadium. Yes, we host both events! State in the morning and WMI in the afternoon/evening. Therefore it is a full day with many, many volunteer opportunities such as directing bands to various locations, directing traffic, concessions, merchandise sales, moving equipment, ticket sales, seating monitors, etc. See more detailed descriptions of volunteer needs below. Please be on the look out for the sign up to help!
