Can Shack
This is an EASY opportunity for you to support our talented Northwest Bands students!
How can you contribute? Gather those recyclable cans and bottles from your home. Ask friends and family to do the same. Drop off your cans at the Can Shack in the Waukee Fareway (200 SE Laurel Street) parking lot.
Why are we doing this? Your contribution will directly support the Northwest Bands including individual student trip costs to Dublin, Ireland.
Spread the word! Let your friends and neighbors know about this initiative. The more cans we collect, the more we can give back to our incredible students and bands.
Volunteer and help raise funds for your band student at the Can Shack!
The public drops cans off at the Shack, which is located in the Waukee Fareway (200 SE Laurel Street) parking lot. Band students from Northwest and Waukee high schools and parent volunteers sort the cans and turn them in for redemption.
Band students and parent volunteers that work in the Can Shack earn funds that will be saved in individual accounts. These funds can only be used for completely optional trips that are organized and funded outside of the school district, such as the Royal Bridage’s upcoming 2025 St. Patrick’s Day Parade to Dublin, Ireland.
The Northwest Royal Brigade and Waukee Warrior Regiment both plan to take a large, optional trip every three years. These individual funds CANNOT be used for required trips (competitions in surrounding states), uniform or instrument requirements (shoes, gloves, etc), or non-required apparel (t shirts, band jackets, fanny packs, etc). These funds CAN be passed down to younger siblings for future use (in other words, shared within the same family).
Funds earned by individual students may be donated back to the Band Parent Organizations (divided equally between the Waukee and Northwest BPOs).
Students may always choose to earn Silver Cord hours rather than individual funds.
