Winter Indoor FAQ

What is Winter Indoor?

Winter Indoor is an indoor drumline and performance art show that takes place in a gymnasium or an indoor arena. While it is a percussion activity, many non-percussionists choose to learn specific percussion instruments in order to participate. And it's a really fun activity that gives students an opportunity to "march" during the winter months.

Waukee Indoor is a combined group of Waukee and Northwest students, and is open to any band student grades 9-12. The drumline is under the direction of Northwest percussion director Tenea Fabray, with assistance from the percussion staffs of both Northwest and Waukee.

When does Winter Indoor take place?

An informational meeting is typically held in mid to late November. Winter Indoor rehearsals take place December through April.

  5. Please look over the schedule and note the performance dates. IMPORTANT: Students who cannot attend all performances, unfortunately, will not be able to participate this year. We can work through some rehearsal conflicts, but all students must be available for the shows. Of note: the MPA Brandon Valley show is March 11, which is the first Saturday of Spring Break.

  6. All interested students should go to this link and fill out the form: bit.ly//2023-Waukee-Indoor-Interest-Form. This will indicate to the percussion staff your interest, your preferred instrument(s), your experience, and any potential rehearsal conflicts.
